Ready, Set, Go

I've never been good at beginnings. With endings, I can usually stick the landing—I know how to get a thoughtful gift, or write a heartfelt letter to tie things up in a neat bow.

Beginnings, though? They're harder. I never know how to act or where to look or what to do with my hands (which I can guarantee you are clammy enough to make any handshake at least a little bit awkward).

So here's to every friendship that starts with a mistimed joke or an accidental staring contest. Here's to starting off on the wrong foot but running the race anyway.

I'm Natalie, and this is my blog, and it's lovely to meet you. There isn't much here yet, but there will be soon. And in the meantime, you can find me on Twitter (current obsessions: The Good Place, Lin-Manuel Miranda and this Henry VIII parody account) and Medium (where I put all my Serious and Mostly Very Sad writing).

Sorry about the sweaty hands, and I'll be honest—I probably won't remember your name the next time I see you. But that's all part of the adventure, right? I'm going to stop overthinking now and press 'Publish.'

Let's do this thing.
